The BayQuest vessel and program platform offers a unique opportunity to support and educate teams of “civic scientists” among young people from socially disadvantaged or underserved communities throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

Under the banner of the BayQuest Warriors for Climate Justice, our education leaders would actively reach out to science educators and community-based frontline organizations with an intersectional approach to foster long-term collaborative partnerships.

The goal is to encourage young people from traditional BIPOC communities to come aboard the BayQuest vessel and experience the magic of wildlife and biodiversity on the bay through active involvement and participation in the organization’s core missions.

4. Water sampling; pollutants

Young people are central in achieving a more sustainable and healthier planet and have repeatedly demonstrated their willingness to address environmental and climate change challenges through innovative ideas and local, neighborhood-centered action. The BayQuest Warriors for Climate Justice program helps take this activity out on the bay while providing opportunities for youth to exercise leadership skills and be an integral part of the conversation.
